Well, it looks like my family finally took the plunge that makes us a Utah family.... we are now Winter sport enthusiasts. Devon & David are now passionate about skiing and Joshua has become a snow boarder. Of course, I am still electing to stay by the fire and read... so I guess I will never be a real UT resident.
Devon and the boys drove up to Park City, this past week, to visit Grandma & Grandpa. Lucky for us, Carolynn & Phil have a time share that has just enough room for 3 extra bodies in the living room.
The whole gang had a blast heading up to the slopes everyday. Although, they all took at least one day off from snow sports to do nothing. Afterall, skiing/snowboarding is hard work. After one day, Devon proclaimed that anyone over the age of 40 has no business learning how to snowboard. David, who is only 12, decided that snowboarding was not for him either. (From what I hear... you fall alot... so you have to be lean and limber.)
Devon said Phil was awesome, serving as their personal ski slope tour guide. He spent time teaching Devon & David where all the good beginner runs were and helped them navigate the ski lifts.
Meanwhile, Joshua was in his own world becoming a master of the snow board. He was even brave enough to spend an entire day on the slopes by himself. When he wasn't able to get a hold of Devon's cell phone (cause it didn't have service), poor Joshua was forced to walk home.
In addition to having the house to myself... on one of the days they were away, Carolynn drove up to Logan for the day. We had such a wonderful time, walking along the Logan River Trail, shopping for Devon's birthday, and meeting Molly for Chinese Food. I am so glad that Carolynn came up to visit... it was such a lovely day.
On their last night in Park City, everyone headed out for some well deserved food - PIZZA. On the way back from the Red Banjo Pizza Parlor, they got to watch a film being made. They even had a little apparatus to simulate rain onto the car that was driving in the film. Joshua and David thought that was cool.
Once everyone returned home, Phil & Carolynn decided to get an additional or larger time share, so that next year, everyone in the family that skis can get together. And, Devon and the boys have been hitting the end of the season sales. For a very reasonable price, Devon was able to get everyone their own equipment to use for next year.
The Whitney already has plans to head back up to Park City for two more days of skiing before the season ends in April. With the screaming deal of $25 per day (includes: equipment, lessons, & lift ticket) it's an offer they just can't refuse.
