Preparations for the big day

With a bumper crop of zuchinnis (that resembled penguins) we spent the week baking all sorts of things that involved the use of this veggie.

Zucchini breads... loafs of it.

Zucchini quiche... enough to feed an army.

Who knew that Purple in Providence would have such a green thumb this year?

When we weren't baking items that included shredding zucchini, we were baking sweets. Snickerdoodle Cookies, Butterscotch Blondies, and Lemon Bars.

We also make tons of challah loaves and a huge fruit salad. I am almost surprized we didn't cancel the order with Einsteins for bagels... afterall we were on culinary roll.

It was fun to cook with so many helpers and the boys all took turns shredding the zuchinni. Here, Gail, Josh, & Joshua take a break from cooking to smile for the camera.

By Wednesday night, Carolynn (my mother-in-law) had arrived to lend a hand. We all laughed, talked, and enjoyed our kitchen adventures.

One night we got so carried away with the baking that we decided to go for broke and bake a pizza too. Devon, who usually is in charge of making the deep dish pizzas at our house, had to go to a meeting, so I was left in charge. For some reason, our pizza got this huge air pocket, which made it look quite monsterous. However, it tasted awesome anyways.
