By Randy Martin, Asst. Scoutmaster, Troop 1, Logan, Utah (Visiting in Kent, UK)

Under rainy skies, the Martin Clan (Asst. Scoutmaster Randy Martin and sons Ryan & Garrett) as well as Cameron Kent and his host family watched the East Kent Mavericks beat the South Wales Warriors in, of all things, American football! It was a good game with the Mavericks falling behind in the last minute, but marching right back up the field and kicking a winning field goal with 5 seconds left on the clock. Ryan was even invited to play with their youth team!

A compilation of stories from a variety of Troop 1 scouters:

Scoutmaster Tom Hogan
-Had a fascination being photographed outside American fast food joints in Canterbury, Kent! Saw some vintage cars, toured English country lanes and had lunch at Hollingbourne’s “The Dirty Habit” 11th century pub!

Scouts Matt Hogan/Joshua Whitney
-Toured Bodiam Castle. From Matt…”It was fun seeing something that was around during the middle ages!”

Asst. Scoutmaster Jason Grimes
-Toured Upnor Castle and Rochester Cathedral.

Ryan, Garrett, & Cameron find an American football game!

Tom says, "The British may have invaded in 1812, but the America has had the last laugh".  Other places visited by Tom included: Burger King, Starbucks, KFC, Pizza Hut, & ASDA (aka Walmart).
