Day 4: Host Family Sunday

Joshua sent an email, briefing us on his day:
Got back from our day out. We went to the Kent show, and we saw Randy, Ryan, and Garret with their host family there (Matt found out through his facebook that Calvin had been there too, but we didn't see them). We spoke with the Kent Scout display people, and did some climbing and box stacking (I'll show you picture when I get back if they haven't been posted. Randy got some.), before having some lunch and heading out. We took a quick detour and saw the Channel and France, before heading back. We'll be having dinner soon, before we pack up for London tomorrow.

From Facebook... here's is what Matt had to say:
Today me, Josh, James, and Allison went to the county show. We met some English scouts and leaders and they were interested us. After the show we headed down to the beach. The water was so cold! So far I'm loving England!

From Facebook... here is what Alison had to say:
We had a great day (yesterday) it was a case of the 'early bird catching the worm', as we caught the first train of the day and had a dry journey, walk around the castle and picnic. Only when we got on the train and were traveling back at gone 2 pm did the heavens open and it rained really heavily. We got wet getting off at the station, but with the car nearby, we had a lucky escape. Today we're off to the Kent Show - just gotta get three teenagers awake and through the bathroom and washing process...wish me luck lol! The boys are off to London tomorrow morning, so I won't then see them again until Weds evening

Another great day - we went to the Kent Show which was REALLY muddy but great fun - met up with other Scouts who had a climbing wall and a climbing on stacked up milk crates activity which they enjoyed. On the way back we went to Folkestone beach and walked along the sand. Home for bangers, mash and beans and hopefully an early night as the boys are up early to catch the train to London:)

Poor Matt T. Hogan got the muddiest trainers ever - we walked along the sea shore to try and wash them off on the way home, but then they got covered in sand on the walk back to the car. To save the day, I washed them; they've come out great.....but v. wet. Now sitting here with the heating on trying to dry them on the radiator in between blasting

From Facebook... here's is what Randy had to add:
Like a bunch of the other Troop 1 Scouts, we too visited the Kent Count Show today (on this rain-free but muddy day). It' somewhat like a State Fair with lots of vendors and activities. The Kent Scouts had some activities set up, including "crate stacking" wherein the Scout as to stack up a paired tower of inverted milk crates, while balancing himself on the topp crates. Of the US Scouts we observed only Matt Hogan completed the towers, although others were close. The picture (below) is Garrett coming "close".

Looks like others in the troop were off doing all sorts of things. Tom went to London to visit with a friend, while Jason went off to London to visit the 2012 Olympic Stadium. Tomorrow the group is meeting up the Railway Station at 9:15 am to take the train into London. The schedule lists them staying in the city for two nights at a student hostel. Activities planned for tomorrow include: Big Bus Tour of London London Museum Trafalgar Square Night Activity.

I haven't heard a peep from David, which means he's either still be "in front of the telly in the sitting room", or he's having so much fun he doesn't have time to send email updates.

LATER THAT NIGHT:  I finally heard from David.  Let's just say he is "a man of few words".  At least I know he's still alive.

Just in (8/2/12) some extra photos from that day:
