Day 5: London Calling

9 Scouts in a London phone box.
Early this morning (9:30 am.), the scouts gathered at the Ashford, Kent, railway station to catch the train into London.  Tom had gone on the day before, so he was there to greet the 11 scouts and 3 leaders (Randy, Jason, & Mark Silvester) on the other end.

Sounds like they had a busy day.  The schedule had them going on the Big Bus Tour (one of those double-decker hop on/hop off excursions), London Museum, Trafalgar Square, and a night activity.

Based upon the reports (see below) from the scout leaders, the group had a jam packed day.  Did the Big Bus Tour, St Paul's Cathedral, British Museum, and other assorted attractions.  They even took some time to play... how many scouts can you fit in a phone box!

The group will be staying in London at a student hostel for two nights.  Meanwhile, their host families have some time to rest up before the scouts return on Wednesday night.

Here's the reports from the leaders:

Jason:
Well, we actually survived our first day as a troop in London. What an amazing city. We saw St. Paul's Cathedral and it was epic. We took thousands of pictures and I'm sure they will start showing up. We miss and love you all. I'd really like to thank Mark and Dave for helping us navigate the wonders of London. More to come.... Oh did I forget to say we spent hours in the British Museum, saw the Rosetta Stone, Rembrandt, Picasso, ancient art, a crystal skull and zillions of items, far to many to list...

Tom:
Utah scouts walked and walked and walked and walked. We took high speed train, the tube, and a big bus today. It was rainy in London as well, I loved it!  To all my friends the troop and I survived our first day in London! Boy and leaders make me so proud! I was impressed as we walked single file down London streets and tube stations. We saw the British Museum, st. Paul's cathedral, the millennium bridge, and London's dungeons. Everything was great minus the dungeons, but dinner made up for it.
